I don't know about ya, but that week off was GOOD to me. I got an opportunity to go see my fraternity brothers to celebrate 100 years of Omega in Kansas. One of the best parts about being in a fraternity is the opportunity to build friendships with another person, regardless of the usual barriers (age, race, wealth, etc.) that typically prevent people from otherwise connecting. I had peer-to-peer conversations with people twice my age because we share this one thing in common.
Friendship is Essential to the Soul
After speaking with some Athletes, I realized that most people like being able to "get better" at performing the exercises, and the only way to do that is to do them repeatedly. This month, you're going to notice some changes in your workout program. More specifically, you'll notice that you will be performing the same exercises every week. You'll also notice that we are transitioning fully to circuit-style training. This adds a conditioning component to your workout because you are performing the exercises with no breaks in between. Lastly, I've included some nutrition recommendations to fuel your body for the journey ahead. Click here to see your workout!

Deadlifting for Tall People
The deadlift. In terms of fitness, the only thing I talk to people about more than this exercise is nutrition. It's one of the most complex movements in fitness, but is also one of the most impactful. If done correctly, you can get a great bang for your buck.
Tall people (or those with long limbs) sometimes struggle deadlifting because of their height. Pick up something heavy (like a gallon of water) right now with two hands and hold it close to your body. See how that feels? Now, extend your arms directly in front of you and try to hold the weight. Feels heavier doesn't it?
I won't go into the physics of it all but in simplest terms, because tall people have long limbs, the weight they are attempting to move feels heavier because it's further away from their center of gravity. To remedy this, tall people should bring the weight closer to them. In terms of deadlifting, this looks like putting a platform under the weight to shorten the distance from the floor to the athlete's center of gravity. Check out this video below of our Athlete Andres (6'2") performing an elevated deadlift to accommodate his height. Pardon my language; I get excited for my friends š .

Everyday Tunes
Music has always been an important part of my life. Whether it's to get me hyped up or to calm my nerves, I lean on music to help regulate my thoughts and emotions. Every week I'll share some of my favorite tunes that I listen to; let me know what you think of my playlist and share some of your own favorites!
Disclaimer: If you do not like vulgarities and such in your music, this ain't for you. But if you enjoy that early 2010's mixtape era, this project is for you. This mixtape just feels like New York and I can't explain it more than that. Some of my favorites on here are Make it Stack, Love Shots, and Come Up. This is great music for rainy days or when you just gotta grind through a particular season. Enjoy!
